TRANSCEND celebrates the link between typography and technology at TYPECON 2024. Technology has pushed the boundaries of typography through digital form, along with expanding the capabilities of experimentation and communication. From coding and algorithms to various software programs, technology advances hand in hand with typography.
Of course, technology, coding, software programs, and typography have all advanced from trial and error and malfunctions. These imperfections and form of trial and error are typically recognized through glitches and distortion. In TRANSCEND, these notions find visual expression. The horizontal structure of glitches encouraged the distortion of “TRANSCEND,” resulting in distorted cuts. It is this connection of glitch and typography that TRANSCEND finds its voice: a reflection of movement, a testament to change, and an honor to the evolved relationship between typography and technology.
